Foltin takes the plunge

Hat tip to Word of Mouth

Go there for the details and reportage, but it echoes rumblings we've been discussing for a while. Still have to wonder why. Foltin, in a year that the GOP is fighting charges of corruption and cronyism, is tainted by corruption and cronyism, with an added soupcon of sex scandal thrown in too. If he's trying to raise name ID and build a network for a future, bigger race, there has to be a better way. All he's going to succeed in doing is make sure everyone sees footage making Lorain look as downtrodden and dingy as possible (not a difficult task, admittedly) and ensure that "craig foltin phone sex" returns many relevant hits on Google.

If you were the GOP, what would you do? If I were the GOP I'd parade someone out in front who has a horrible record so the dems can spend all their time and money lining up a smear campaign. Then, a few weeks before the primary, I'd reveal the "real" candidate, complete with a shiny clean record and a couple million dollars backing.

I think you give the GOP way too much credit. Besides, the filing deadline is the 16th of Feb, so that doesn't give them a whole lot of time to pull off this switch by the end of the week.
